Here are a few tips and a quick list on how you can run a league for free, and for many years after that.
1. First, join a free web site that runs a fantasy league and get familiar with the service. There are a few quality services online that I have linked to below. Visit each one and see which service provides you with the most options you like for your league. I have been using Yahoo Fantasy Sports service to run my free league during the actual season.
2. After you decide you will have to create a league at that service. Which the service will walk you through step by step. The basic things to consider in creating a leagues is. What type of league? H2H, roto or fantasy sport. Roster sizes, # of teams, scoring and positions available are the other main aspects to consider. The private league options at most services will allow you to control all these options. Giving you full range to customize your own fantasy keeper league. You can or probably have a firm idea on these topics. But you can get full explanations and review all the league options at the sites you visit.
3. After setting your basic configuration for your league. You must then fill your league with team owners. You can invite friends, family or people from work. I filled my league by inviting owners from different leagues that I participated in. Now I have a very challenging league full of die hard sports fans that play everyday. This is my second favorite part in starting a league. Second only to the draft.
4. Next it is time to decide on how and what type of draft you will have. The choices on how to conduct a draft are online, email or offline with everyone gathered for the draft. I would prefer offline then uploading the draft, but most of mine have been online.
Some services have options for the type of drafts. Such as an auction or normal draft style. Auctions tend to be more fair in player acquisition. But yet again a prefer the regular style draft. Going from first to last then last to first and so on.
5. Now that the league has been set up, the league filled with owners and the teams filled with players. You can just sit back and let the free service run the league. It will process all the scoring, trades and roster acquisitions until the end of the season.
